1. Generally, there is tensile force, but tests have found that compressive stress can also cause stress corrosion. This is because when tensile force exists, the type of force received by the material can be reflected by its reaction force. There are usually two different types of forces, which can be divided into tensile stress and compressive stress. Mainly by analyzing the force acting on an object, if this external force can make the object smaller, it indicates that this external force is compressive stress, and if this force can make the object larger, it indicates that this external force is tensile stress.
Half of the critical points for material fracture have a certain critical point. If an external force exceeds this bearing limit or exceeds the maximum value of the force at this critical point, the material will fracture. Therefore, for the crack propagation rate, there is a critical point in stress corrosion, where the critical stress intensity factor must be greater than this critical point for the crack to propagate.
3. Generally, stress corrosion cracking belongs to brittle fracture. Stress corrosion refers to a series of damages caused by metal materials in corrosive media. The series of destructive processes that occur throughout the entire process until the material fractures is called stress corrosion fracture.
