There are actually clever ways to charge the battery of a pipette!
Date: 2022-05-19Read: 34
Most pipettes use nickel hydrogen batteries because they are more economical, green, and economical than other batteries. However, many users are not familiar with nickel hydrogen batteries, and due to incorrect usage and maintenance methods, the battery's lifespan is greatly shortened, even affecting the use of the instrument itself. So today let's talk about the usage of batteries!
If the battery is not used for a long time, even if it is insulated (such as using plastic sheets to isolate the battery and contacts), it will naturally enter a "sleep" state after a few months. However, even so, due to the extended storage time, the battery life will also be shortened. Based on experience and feedback, it is generally believed that for nickel hydrogen batteries produced by large manufacturers with better quality, if the shelf life is less than one year, the impact on their service life is not very significant. However, the premise is that the better quality batteries are used and stored in a relatively dry and ventilated environment.

There have always been two views on the preservation of pipette batteries: one is discharge preservation, and the other is charged preservation. Suggest keeping the battery powered on. According to testing, the storage condition of nickel hydrogen batteries is about 80% charged storage. This is because the self discharge of nickel hydrogen batteries is relatively large (about 10% -15% per month). If the battery is stored after discharge and not used for a long time, the self discharge of the battery will lead to over discharge.
The pipette charger is mainly divided into fast charging and slow charging. The slow charging current is very small, usually about 200mA, for example, the common charging current is about 160mA. The charging time is long. Charging a 1800mAh nickel hydrogen battery takes approximately 16 hours. Although the time is slightly slower, it can be charged sufficiently without damaging the battery. The fast charging current is usually higher than 400mA, and the charging time is greatly reduced, which can be completed in 3-4 hours.
