In the period of confusion and lack of "meteorological lightning protection", "building lightning protection" should be promptly supplemented. On April 12th, the Academic Committee on Building Lightning Protection (ACLP) of the Chinese Architectural Society was established in Beijing. Subsequently, ACLP held multiple technical exchange meetings in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Xiamen and other places. A group of building electrical experts, including Sun Lan, the chief engineer of the China Building Standards Design and Research Institute, the secretary general of the Building Electrical Standardization Technical Committee, and ACLP secretary general, frequently attended lightning protection technology conferences in various places, covered in dust and vibrant.

However, 'building lightning protection' cannot represent all aspects of modern lightning protection. On June 15th, the Standardization Technical Committee for Power Grounding Technology in the Energy Industry was established in Xi'an, and immediately carried out grounding technology exchanges and the construction of a grounding technology standardization system. On October 24-25, the "Second China Lightning Protection Industry Development and Innovation Summit Forum" held in Shenzhen proposed the theme of "New Lightning Protection, Great Safety", reconstructed the development concept of the lightning protection industry, and elevated the industry pattern to a new height. Their product lines range from lightning protection basic components to intelligent management systems and even extend to a wider range of application products. Each company that appears is a symbol representing the current status of the industry. By carefully observing their growth process and development ideas, we can outline the trend and blueprint of China's lightning protection industry.

Of course, the development of any industry is always accompanied by both negative and positive voices. Even as many people lament the decline of the lightning protection market, more people continue to silently move forward while continuously releasing positive and optimistic development signals: Leqing Taike Electronics Co., Ltd. adheres to high standards of product quality and service, achieving the annual double-digit growth business target; In order to expand production scale, in early 2017, Leqing Taike purchased a new factory building, which is expected to be completed and put into operation in August 2018; In August 2017, Chenshuo Electronics (Jiujiang) Co., Ltd. started construction with great success. Standards/specifications have always been a guide for the actions of a growing industry, regulating the development and application of products, and stimulating continuous innovation of products. Participating in standard setting is also an important sign of entering the * enterprise. Therefore, the enthusiasm of enterprises to participate in standard setting has never weakened. In 2016, * and the Standardization Management Committee issued the "Guiding Opinions on Cultivating and Developing Group Standards", which further promoted this enthusiasm. In 2017, although some proposals for "group standards" were questioned by seasoned experts, "based on technology and innovative development" remained the mainstream trend in the lightning protection industry. There were still many tech savvy CEOs, such as Li Xin from Xiamen Daheng, Fei Rongqi from Guizhou Feige, and Ma Chang from Beijing Leibus, who were passionate about technology and not just about wind and moon.

In the past two years, major media outlets have successively reported on "Chinese experts have completed the compilation of multiple ITU-T SG5 lightning protection new standards", "Lightning protection standards sing the voice of China", and "China's participation in ITU-T lightning protection standard compilation has made breakthrough progress", which has inspired the industry; In 2017, the IECSC37A AHG9 domestic counterpart working group was established and held two working meetings to study SPD disconnectors and intelligent SPDs; In October, the IEC SC37A WG3/WG4/WG5 working group meeting was held in Chengdu, where expert committees from various countries discussed the relevant work content and work plans of Smart SPD and SSD, promoting the process of incorporating Smart SPD and SSD into the IEC standard work.

In contrast, the research and standard formulation in the field of multi pulse lightning protection in China appear to be at a different pace. After the successful development of a 10 pulse multi flash impact generator by the Beijing Lightning Protection Equipment Testing Center in 2012, China's independently developed 20 pulse multi waveform lightning electromagnetic pulse generation system settled in the Heilongjiang Lightning Protection Center in 2014. Its largest output pulse quantity and amplitude are both in the domestic position. This achievement has important application value for the innovation of lightning protection technology and the research on electromagnetic compatibility of various electronic products. Although SPDs that meet the requirements of multi pulse testing were introduced to the market a few years ago, the standards for multi pulse testing in China have always been under debate. On September 25, 2017, the group standard "Multi pulse Surge Protective Devices for Low Voltage Distribution Systems - Performance Requirements and Test Methods" organized and compiled by the Chinese Architectural Society held * working group meetings; On November 16th, the German T ü V Rheinland Group released the "Surge Protection Device (SPD) Multi Pulse Test Certification Standard" (2PfG 2634) in Beijing. Usually, standards lag behind products, but if standards are not implemented for a long time after the product is launched, it is detrimental to the development of the industry. As Xia Bo, Vice President of Commercial and Industrial Product Services at T ü V Rheinland Greater China, said in an interview with China Lightning Protection, "How can products without standard assessments be recognized by the market? If we can reach consensus on key aspects, we should first set aside disputes, implement some more suitable 'standards', and then improve according to applications." As a third-party testing organization, T ü V Rheinland's keen insight and execution ability are worth learning from for managers and operators in the lightning protection industry.
